Tonights Dinner

If you are a parent, this will bring back some sweet memories. If you plan to be a parent someday, this is just a snap shot of what fun you will have.

Tonight for dinner we had Lasagna. It has been a really long time since we had had it, and I was looking forward to it. Major has started eating people food since we last had lasagna. Mom had given him some spaghetti a while back and said that he loved it. Well, he loved lasagna too.

Needless to say, he went directly into the tub. He still hates the bath!

Just another day

Today was a pretty uneventful day. Baby woke up about 3:00 and I brought him down to my bed. We kind of slept in. The afternoon was full of errands, naps, then Michael had a basketball game at 8 pm.

The game was good. We lost tonight, but the kids are getting better each week, and I think getting a better understanding of the game each week. Our team ranges of boys, and girls from the ages of 6 to 10 year olds. One of our younger boys, Matthew, played one quarter tonight and was “too tired” to play anymore. During the fourth quarter he came to me and said that he wasn’t going to play anymore, and that he was going to wait to play in the fall with the kids he age…OH! He meant he wasn’t going to play anymore this season! Mavrick had suited up in case we needed him to play (because we almost did last week). So, Mav is going to take Matthew’s place for the rest of the season.

Tonight, I put Major to bed for the 10th night in a row in his own bed. Yea! For the first 6/7 days I put Tylenol in night bottle and he slept really good, all night. The last two nights he woke up at 3:00 one night and 1:00 the other. So, we will see how he does tonight. He may need to go back to Tylenol.

Anyway, when we first started putting him to bed in his room, he would start crying when we walked into the room. The last few days he has gotten better. We go in and read a book or two and he finishes his bottle then will go to sleep when I rock him. I will then get up to put him in his bed and he wakes up. I put him down and he cries for a few minutes then goes to sleep. Each night it is getting better, and the crying is shorter. I have times when I want to just put him in bed with us just because I love him so much and want to hug him, and squeeze him, and kiss him and love him...but I don't. Because one day, I plan to get my groove back ;)

More Longhorn Basketball!

Do I look like a basketball coach to you? Yeah, me either. Michael is now playing of in the city league for Corinth. It is a pretty casual deal, and it is difficult for them to find coaches. Last year he played and they called when I was pregnant with Major to see if Mark or I would coach. I told them that I was about 12 months pregnant and new nothing about basketball, and that my husband didn’t really like other peoples kids, and sometimes not even ours, so I thought they should get another parent on board for the job.

So, when I registered Michael for this season, I wrote in that I would be a coach if needed. Then, at one of Michael’s school games, JeJe came and was kind of drafted to be my Assistant Coach. Well, she was able to talk her husband into doing it, and she would be the Assistant, Assistant Coach. He is doing really good! We have a 30 minute practice on Thursday nights and a game on Friday nights. I am coming home and taking notes on what he is teaching them each week (I am kind of standing around trying to look official, in a supervising type of way). So, hopefully, by the time Major is nine, I will be a really good coach!

I asked Michael what he wanted the team to be called and he said “the longhorns,” so we are burning orange around the Pittard house once again! I’ll try to post some pictures when our jersey’s come in!

BTW – We won our first game! Yea, Coach Stuart!

Living With Mom and Dad

So, Major and I lived at mom and dad’s house for 2 months. Michael and Mavrick would come home and stay with Mark and sleep in their own beds. That may have been damaging for them in some ways, but that is not what this entry is about…

In some ways it was like being on a vacation. Like being out of town, “visiting my parents” just for a really long time. It allowed me some, ok a lot, of freedom because my dad was always there to help me with Major. And let’s be honest. Mark is hardly ever home to help me with the kids.

And my parents were so good to us/me. I could take Major and put him in bed with them in the mornings, take the kids to school and go to yoga, or sometimes I would even come “home” and go back to sleep. It was a nice stay.

I think by the end, Mavrick had gotten a little too comfortable. I went looking for him one day and found him in mom and dad’s room, umm… wearing my mom’s sleeping mask… After nearly wetting my pants laughing so hard, he decided to pose for these photos. Where does he come up with this stuff?

Anyway, thanks Mom and Dad for letting us stay with you! We enjoyed ourselves and had a lot of fun... some you knew about, some you didn't. Love you!

Revolving Doggie Door

Some of you know my dog saga, for those of you who don’t, I will give a brief review. Mark and I met in 1991. He had a dog named lady. She was about 3, she lived as our daughter until she passed in 2005, that was about 16 years for those of you slow in math. About 2 years ago I surprised the family with a sweet little year old long haired dog (Macey, the shit zoo). Mark would not let her stay. After 2 weeks, she became my dad’s dog, and they have lived happily ever after. Not long after that I got us a pug named Megan. She was with us a little over a year. Mark never liked her. She stunk. She was a sweet dog, but just not the lap dog that we had wanted. In the mean time, I got pregnant, and she was just going to be too much with a baby. So, we gave her to a family that had a little boy pug, and now she is spoiled and sleeps in the bed with her mommy and daddy. So around about last July, I adopted a Terrier mix. This dog was one rock short of a full load. She was just a mess, and perhaps just untrainable. We called her Maddie. She was so hyper and just WAY TOO MUCH for me to handle. In October I took Maddie back, and the boys didn’t even notice she was gone for over a week! Needless to say, I have taken some crap off the neighbors and some friends for the revolving doggie door that we seemed to have around here. It was well deserved.

Finally, in February of this year, I started looking for a Chihuahua. Then, the next week we had the flood at the house and had to move out. Praise God that I didn’t move too quickly on that. But, now that we are home, and it is summer and the boys are at home, I decided to get a puppy…so I did.

Mav and baby Chloe

Our two babies, Major and Chloe

Mavrick went with me to Alverado last week to get her, and on the way home he named her Chloe. Yes, it is a turn from our “M” names, but change is good. She is an 8 week old Chihuahua, and is expected to get to be about 5 or 6 pounds. The boys have been very helpful with her so far, and Major is learning to tell her “down!” She is going to be a great addition to our family. She already sleeps with me and Mark!

Thursday Swim Day

Well, our summer is off and running. The boys got out of school last Wednesday, and I feel like we have pretty much been going since then. There are lots of things I want and plan to do. But for sure we have a standing appointment with my sister for Thursday Swim Day.

They live in a neighborhood that has two community pools. There is a pool that is more of an adult pool that is about 4-5 feet deep than a kids splash pool in a different location that is about 1 ½ feet deep. The kids have fun in both pools, and Christy’s house is about half way between both.

We went over last Thursday (Mav’s 8th birthday) and had a lot of fun. Michael got a sunburn, Mav started work on his tan, and Major didn’t get in the water. We went back over today and stayed at the splash pool for about an hour and a half. This time I was able to get a little sun. Major played real well under the shade tents on his towels with his toys. The boys swam for a while. The water was much too cold, I thought, probably because of the big rain we had earlier in the week.

Anyway, we are all looking forward to our Thursday Swim Day’s in Allen this summer!
