Oh Crap!

I’ve been at home today with the brothers Crappy Pants. Michael and Mavrick have some type of stomach virus and they were both home from school today. Michael was throwing up all yesterday, so this was his second day out. Thank God I have been able to take Major down to my dad’s just to get a break and play nurse to the other two. Yesterday evening, Michael threw up all over the bathroom and I had to get my dad to come down and take care of Major while I cleaned everything. He was hungry and wrestles and didn’t want to just sit and wait on me. It has been a crazy two days. It is like everyone is asleep and things are calm, then “it” all hits the fan at the same time! I can tell by just looking at Michael that he has lost some weight in the last two days.

This evening I gave Major his first ever cereal. I nearly wet my pants laughing. I don’t think he swallowed a bit of it! He opened his month and kept opening for more bites, but then would spit it out as fast as it went in. He was hilarious! Right now he is sucking his thumb… maybe there is some cereal on that!

4 Months Today!

Major is 4 months old today! Can you believe it! He is talking all the time, and loves to sit-up in his bounce saucer and his bumbo seat. He is happy all the time and smiles a lot! He stays with my dad three days a week and they are huge pals. He has slept in his bed for over a week now, and we are working on getting the stretches of sleep longer. I think the longest has been five hours, but it will come! We are so blessed to have him here, and his brothers adore him! WE are all so blessed!

First Day of What Grade?

Today my babies started school, again. Michael is in 3rd grade and Mavrick is in 2nd! They were really excited this morning. Michael said he was “ready” and chattered all the way to school. This afternoon they told me all about their day and how nice it was to be back. Mavrick, of course, was chased by all the girls in his class. Here are some pictures from this morning!

Today’s Mavrickism – On the way home from school, about 3:45 this afternoon. “Mom, did you have any beer today?” Seems he is concerned about my “social drinking.” He told me yesterday no more and was pretty upset to find out that I drank beer. Somehow, wine is ok, so I have bought me a bottle and I am learning to be a wine girl.

Mavrickisms & Michael Funnies

Mavrickisms - funny things that Mavrick says.

Today’s Mavrickism: “Mom, you’re a great mom. I don’t know how you do it with all of us, especially that little one. He is a handful.” I stopped what I was doing and told him I love them all and that is how I “do it.”

Monday’s Mavrickism: “Mom, I know what the F-word is.” “What?” I say as I hold my breath, bite my tongue. “Franklin” he said and turned and bounced away.

Last Week’s Mavrickism: “When honey has her garage sale I am going to sell snow cones and water. I am going to put salt in the snow cones so people will need to buy more water.”

Michael funnies – funny things that Michael does.

Today’s Michael funny – We were at the water park today and he was putting sunscreen on Mavrick and me and this is what he did to both of us…

Monday’s Michael funny – We were going to the store to get some school clothes and Michael went upstairs to get his shoes. It took a little longer than it should have, and when he came down the stairs he had his shoes, but he also had a camouflage bandana tied around his head like he was going to an audition for Flash Dance. I didn’t say anything, I couldn’t help but laugh. Then Mavrick and I looked at each other like “Yikes!” and he laughed too. But we just let Michael be Michael.

I have become my mother!

Most people know that I grew up a TK… a Tupperware kid. Surrounded by the ultimate optimist and brainwashed by Zig Ziggler, I really can do anything, and I am afraid of very little. We went places with her that most mom’s wouldn’t take their kids. Especially at night! I remember going with mom to Tupperware parties in “the ghetto” and “barrio.” She possibly took us with her as some type of protection, as if it would be more difficult to take two of us out than it would be to take one.

So, yesterday I got a call from a Hispanic couple who needed an apartment. I pulled them a list and told them I would call them today at 6:00. I will be the first to say there is a huge language barrier because other than being able to order a beer, I speak no Spanish! Anyway, I found five properties for them to go to. I took the list with me in the car today and went to Frisco with the kids and then over to Christy’s. I figured we would be late so I would call this family on the way home. I called them and told them that I would bring the list by. At this point, I am hoping that if they see my face they will remember that I am their referral source on their application, and my chance of getting paid would increase greatly.

I called and they said come on by! There were several families living in this house on the corner with no grass in the front yard. I had all three of my kids in the car, so I left it running, told the boys to sit tight and locked the doors. Before I got up the sidewalk there were seven or eight kids in the front yard. A very pretty young girl became my translator and I explained the list to the couple. THEN, they asked her something and she asked me “Can you go with them?” “Sure, can you follow me?”

So, they followed me over to the property. I pulled ALL of my kids out of the car and we ALL went into the apartment office. Let me paint this a little more for you. I am wearing tan shorts and a brown tank top, brown flip-flops, have a baby on my hip, pulling tweedle-dee and tweedle-dumb behind me, asking for the restroom… Oh, yeah, and this is the Spanish speaking couple I, “Miss Professional,” just called you about. They went to look at the apartment and came back and talked for about 15 minutes, in Spanish, so I have no idea what was going on. About 5:45 the manager, who spoke Spanish, asked if we rode together. I told her “no” and she said that they were going to fill out the applications. So, I told the very pretty young girl who had been translating for me that I would call them in the morning, and if that property didn’t work out I would take them to the others… So, that would be my second lease this week! Yea! Life is Good!
