He’s A Big Boy Now :(

Yesterday afternoon, the boys got home from school and I heard Michael upstairs talking to Mavrick about a birthday party he is invited to. It is a girl named Lauren. He has had a crush on her all year. For Valentines Day he decided to tell her how he felt about her. I don’t know if she has talked to him since. I have to laugh because I was just like her – only I think I was in 4th grade instead of 2nd!

Anyway, as he is walking down stairs talking to Mav he is saying “Roller Skating! I can’t even ride a bike on two wheels! How am I supposed to Roller Skate? Everybody in my class will be there and they can all skate! This will be the most humiliating day of my life!”

OK… first of all, I am sad that my 8 year old knows what “humiliating” means and can use it properly in a sentence! Secondly, God knew what he was doing giving me another boy, because between Michael and Mav, I already have a Drama Queen. But finally, I wish I could take him and teach him how to skate. I don’t know that it would be wise for a 7 month pregnant woman to get on skates! It just breaks my heart! I will take him to skate in the next day or two just so it is not his first time on skates. Maybe he will decide that he hates it and not want to go to his Crush’s party!

Whhhhhhhat?

This morning on the way to school Mavrick asks “Mom, how did you get pregnant?” Now, he is 6 ½ and knowing that adults typically say way more than a child wants to hear, I said “What do you mean?” He replied “How did you get pregnant?” Long pause…I finally said “Well, God decided that he wanted us to have another baby, so he put one in my belly.” Then he said “No…. it happens when a man and a woman are intensely drawn to each other…” So I, of course responded with “Where did you hear that? And he said “TV.”

Finally Friday

I feel like this week has come to a close the same way it stated – in total chaos! This morning was rushed and I ran out of patience with the boys. They are 8 and 6 for goodness sakes. I had to apologize to them on the way to school. I love them with all my heart; I just sometimes forget to act like it.

I lost my ATM card this morning. I’m not real sure how. I took the boys to McDonald’s on the way to school. Got out at school. Drove back to McDonald’s to get breakfast for my co-worker, and when I went to pay, I couldn’t find my card anywhere. I looked all through the car, and still couldn’t find it. I called to cancel it and order a new one. My mom had her wallet stolen a few years back, and within 20 minutes they had charged a load of stuff. That would just be too much to take right now.

Every day when I walk into the office the two women I work closest to comment on how pregnant I look that day. Yesterday, everyone at the front of the office I saw said “WOW! He is really growing!” Today, my ladies in the back were in agreement that I was huge. I think I am going to have to buy a couple of skirts because all of the pants I have just kill me! It’s like they cut off the circulation to my legs! It is CRAZY uncomfortable!

I came home today completely exhausted. I don’t breathe well during the day, so that probably has something to do with it. I was just going to lie down for 30 minutes. I came out of my comma about 3 hours later. All I am saying is the person that wakes me up before 9:00 is dead meat. Yeah, the weekend is here!

What A Week!

So, I have been reading my sister's blog, a good friend's blog, and an acquaintance's blog, and well, I think I need one too! I have two great kids that make me laugh everyday, so what a better way to share with the world this adventure I call "life." This is my first blog EVER, so hang with me while I learn!

Right now I am 12 months pregnant (or 29 weeks, depending on how your are counting). I went to Tulsa last weekend for a conference. I came back with ankles as big as my knees and completely exhausted! My oldest son, Michael had a swollen foot from playing basketball on Saturday morning. It had been bothering him for about 3 weeks, so I decided I would take him to the Dr on Monday. During the night, about 1:00 am, Mavrick, my middle son, yakked in his bed, only to come down to get us out of bed and barf in the hall and bathroom. :) Anyone who knows me knows I have an over active gag reflex. My wonderful husband, Mark, cleaned everything up! We all finally got back to bed about 2:00 am.

I got up about 6:30 Monday morning and went to the restroom. As I went to sit down, I found that the seat was still up from the middle of the night cleaning. I spent what felt like 15 minutes falling into the toilet (ladies, you know what I mean), only to catch myself with my right hand and hyperextend my thumb all the way back to my wrist. It hurt so bad. I couldn't curse, I couldn't cry, I could barley breath!

We finally got in to see the Dr about 3:00, who said Mavrick had a stomach bug and Michael needed an x-ray. We rushed over to the hospital, after going to the wrong place first. I must have looked pitiful, I know I was breathing hard - the office was about to close, but they let us come in! God bless those ladies! Michael did not have a fracture, only a sprain. The Dr wants him to stay off of it for a week. Did I mention he is 8? Umm...this would be a miracle. His last basketball game is this Saturday and when I mention NOT playing he starts to cry "It's my last game!" We put a "boot" on him this morning, so maybe, if he keeps it on, it will help!
